Meeting, Exhibitions, Event, and Convention Organizers and Sponsors (Chapter. 2) March 22, 2023
I discovered that every one of these events has been carefully organized in a variety of ways to satisfy the needs and expectations of the guests. Government, association, and corporation make up the three types of organizations.
There are three separate groups that host events and meetings, and each has a special purpose. The three are the government, associations, and corporations. Corporation, the definition given in the book is "legally chartered enterprises that conduct business on behalf of their owners with the purpose of making a profit while increasing its value." A corporation's members are closely affiliated with the business. Less than six months are given to corporations for lead time and event planning.
A collection of individuals who have joined forces to form an association in order to further a common cause. Associations can be diverse. From professional, industry, educational, scientific, or social reasons, etc. In the committee, each of it's members is able to cast a vote. In comparison with corporations, attendees are responsible for covering their own costs, including travel, and registration, sponsorships and registration fees cover conference costs.
Government, defined as " subdivision of federal, state, or local government". Employees of the goverment and, depending on the situation, members of the broader public make up a government. It takes less than three to four months to arrange an event.

Sustainable Tourism in the United Kingdom
Sustainable tourism in the United Kingdom means to aim to reduce the impacts of tourism activities for people, places and the planet while increasing its benefits. Protecting natural environments and resources when managing and developing tourism activities. In the UK there are three basic forms of tourism which is domestic, inbound, and outbound tourism. They also offer ranges of tourist attractions as a result to having many more tourist visit the United kingdom. United Kingdom has a policy for keeping sustainable tourism relevant. Based on my research United kingdom mainly focuses on the environment. The United Kingdom ensures staffs are fully aware of the sustainability policy and have them improve and implement it as much as possible. As for Guam, we can benefit from this by also taking care of the environment which we have started by using reusable bags. What The United Kingdom does to be a sustainable tourism:
- Providing experiences that conserve heritage and culture.
- Protecting natural environments and resources.
- Managing and minimizing the impact our office and transport activities.
- Promoting waste minimization, re-use, and recycling.
Creating socio-economic benefits for communities through tourism activities
Summary of chapter 1 August 30, 2022
Who are the providers of infrastructure and transportation in the destination?
On Guam there are private sectors and government sectors which provide the community with infrastructure and transportation. Private sectors consist of GTA (Guam Telegram), GRTA (Guam Regional Transportation Authority), and GSWA (Guam Solid Waste Authority). These providers help with transportation, Wi-Fi services and with disposing trash. As for government sectors there is GPA (Guam Power Authority), GWA ( Guam Waterworks Authority), and GPD (Guam Police Department).
What are major attractions and events of the destination?
Guam hosts a variety of activities for people to enjoy, including the Japan Festival, Block Party, Mango festival, and tourists destinations including Talofofo Falls, The Valley of the Latte river boat cruise, Fish eye where you can snorkel, and Jeffs Pirates Cove where you can enjoy the view of the beach and eat good food. These events and attractions bring attention to visitors as they enjoy other areas on Guam as well. Other major attractions could be found of Yelp or Trip Advisor, these events are mainly held by beaches and villages which makes it a lot more enjoyable since everyone can get access to the event.
What are the major built facilities?
Due to Guam being a go-to spot for tourists, there are various attractions like hotels, restaurants, and shopping malls to entertain and satisfy the needs of tourists. There are numerous hotels to stay in, such as Tsubaki, Dusit Thani and Hilton, in which will provide all needs for their guests. For restaurants, there is Outback Steakhouse, Capricciosa and Churrasco. Shopping malls would include Micronesia Mall, GPO (Guam Premier Outlet) and Agana Shopping Center.
How do you evaluate the service quality and friendliness within the destination?
Service quality and the friendliness will depend on the company itself, alongside the rating and reviews the guests would input online. Sites that can be used to see the rating are either Yelp or TripAdvisor.
Are there aspects of the destinations product that are missing and need to be added?
New attractions should be added on Guam that will provide guests with more entertainment. As we are surrounded by the ocean, cruise ships would be very popular in my opinion. Also, a new zoo since the old one has unfortunately shut down and isn't open to the public.
How does the destination product need to be improved in the future?
Companies on Guam tend to build facilities that end up being ruined and left as junk. As well as the cleanliness especially in the areas where everyone enjoys.
