Critical thinking and language in digital environments
In teacher training, there is a need to encourage future teachers to be able to discern reflectively and critically. This ability has a discursive aspect: on the one hand, students must be able to critically discern between reliable and rigorous texts, and, on the other hand, they must be able to develop language uses that make them elaborate reasoned discourse.. The objective of this project is based on the implementation of didactic actions for the development of students' critical thinking in the use of language in formal digital academic contexts.

The Project intends to implement significant change in the ways teachers are teaching and students are learning nowadays by promoting innovative and technology enhanced teaching & learning (T&L) with the ultimate aim of enhancing student learning experience in Armenian, Georgian and Belarusian partner universities.

This telecollaboration project connected the RUG Spanish Proficiency III students (BA) with pre-service teachers in the MA programme of the UB.
RUG students learned how to:
- improve linguistic skills (B1 > B2)
- improve intercultural awareness / knowledge
- improve E- literacies
- prepare students for the mandatory stay abroad in the next semester
UB students learned how to:
- improve e-literacies in language teaching
- improve teaching skills by using ICT tools
- become aware of the potential of using Internet for the learning and teaching of language.

This MOOC is an initiative by the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. It runs on the SpeakApps project platform through its tools.
It is based on the principles of tandem language learning: two students learning each others’ native language to help each other to improve their language skills.
Intermediate, advanced or proficient learners of Spanish or English as a Foreign Language will be able to improve their oral skills in Spanish or in English with native speakers and to develop learning and communicative strategies.
