Literature Review

   Literacy is defined as the ability to read and write which gives me the skill that I need to successfully complete this literature review. Community is a place with people that have shared values and purposes. My community now is UCBA, later on, in life, I will be a part of the funeral industry community, and writing about a topic within my community helped me not only gain knowledge but also feel like a member of the community already. Inquiry is a process of asking questions and testing and revising. Questions and revisions are the best part of writing rough drafts because you gain feedback that can help you for your final and after getting feedback from my peer and professor gained confidence, the paper was going better than I expected. Composing knowledge is used to support your conversation by examining your own learning experiences and writing, this entire paper was a learning experience for me. I will go into my career field with knowledge about a type of funeral service that some people might not even know about.

    Throughout this piece of writing, I got to see different viewpoints and aspects of the funeral industry and the funeral services they conduct. I learned that writing an outline for a literature review is very important! While I was researching, I found other components of the funeral industry that made me question it but I’m willing to go into the field and make a change instead of turning back now. Articles written by professionals in my discourse community generate knowledge by presenting the problem and then the solution or they are usually information pieces about a topic within our discourse community.

    This sample of my writing showed me another theme of writing, and expanded my writing knowledge This sample of writing also shows me that the process of composing, revising, and editing is somewhat hard but, in the end, it all comes together. my use of evidence is scholarly cited sources and appropriate funeral services, evidence is articulated and supported with additional information about the topic from my discourse community. The evidence is introduced, with appropriate citations, and a supporting sentence after. Throughout my review, I have correctly formatted in-text citations and have those same references posted on the works cited page.
