Genre Analysis 

   Community is a place with people that have shared values and purposes, community was used in my genre analysis when it came to writing about who is able to write and who is able to receive obituaries. Composing knowledge seeks to support your conversation by having you examine your own writing and learning experiences, this was used in the evidence part of the writing when talking about my experiences with obituaries.  Literacy is defined as the ability to read and write; this is utilized throughout the paper which allows me to communicate my topic of analysis effectively.  Inquiry can be defined as a process of asking questions and testing and revising, this term is incorporated in my piece during the rough draft and final draft process, during that process I was able to get my paper peer reviewed along with some information from the professor after taking that information, I apply it to my paper.

    This assignment has allowed me to look further into the aspects of the career field that I am going into. By analyzing something so important to the field I am going into has me feeling good about what I’ve learned, and I am ready to apply the knowledge that I’ve learned throughout this assignment to the real world. I learned that writing obituaries are not only special for me but special to the families that receive them, and I plan on making sure every client I have will know that also.

    This sample of writing demonstrates that I know how to pick a topic within a desired field and talk about it efficiently with examples included. This writing task was the second one so I got to get a good feel of the first one and I see that I know what I’m doing so by the time the draft was ready to be peer viewed, I already have no doubt in my head that the paper is well written, this paper I was given two critiques and I know the third paper will receive nothing but great feedback. If you are outside of my discourse community you would be able to read my paper and get more than just a simple definition of obituaries, you will be ready to write them for yourself and the use of evidence are fake obituary samples that are credible and do not disclose anyone’s personal information.
