Large residential development consistent of over 150 dwellings of timber frame construction.
Completed in 2014.
This was a new build housing development in Bracknell comprising of newly built timber frame homes.
Responsible for producing technical drawings that were used for ordering materials and tendering for sub contractor work.
The drawings were also used for the construction of the homes.

The development was constructed of timber frame panels, manufactured in a factory and assembled on site. Architectural detailing was required to ensure the setting out sole plates at ground floor level were in line with the foundations. Tolerances will engineered and designed into the property to allow of timber frame movement in relation to outer masonry facades. Detailing and specification was also provided for correct guidance regarding fire protection between dwellings in the use of Spandrel Panels and adeqaute fire stops and barriers in line with NHBC technical standards.

Topic learnt: Single drawing sheet house type technical drawings were easy to read for construction on site, however 1:100 block elevations drawings were required to understand the levels and junction arrangements between house types.
The use of timber frame construction provided speed of construction, off site manufacturing ensured quality of and safety of installation. The use of timber provided improved thermal performance using strong durable material. Timber frame construction is a environmental friendly construction method option as is uses materials that are renewable and thus is a sustainable and costs efficient choice for house building.
