Development of 7 residential dwellings completed in 2025.
Compromising of 5 residential properties and 2 affordable homes built of masonry construction.
Located near Cobham, South West London.
Site Development
The site was originally an agricultural farm located on Green Belt land at Martyr's Green, near Cobham, Surrey, England, where strict planning and development policies apply.
In order to secure development approval, the volumes of the existing farm buildings were carefully calculated, and consent was granted to construct new residential dwellings that matched these approved volumes.
The approved scheme delivered seven new homes in total: two affordable rental homes, one two-bedroom private resale property, three high-specification detached cottages, and one four-bedroom luxury detached residence.

This type of project develops strong skills in managing complex architectural design within highly constrained planning and regulatory environments, particularly Green Belt developments. It builds advanced capability in coordinating intricate room-in-roof geometries, dormers, valleys, attic trusses, and cranked steelwork, alongside integrating structural, fire, and energy performance requirements under the UK Building Regulations 2023. The role strengthens technical detailing, consultant coordination, and problem-solving skills, especially in resolving buildability, tolerance, and sequencing issues on site, while also enhancing risk management, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder communication across design and construction stages.
Assisted with the interpretation of engineering drawings to establish accurate setting-out arrangements on site, despite incomplete or limited survey information.
Verified site measurements and ensured that delivered materials and frames matched approved fabrication drawings.
Managed and checked material orders, confirming the quality, dimensions, and specifications of external doors, windows, and apex frames to prevent site issues.
Successfully managed and coordinated a complex room-in-roof housing design incorporating multiple dormers, valleys, hips, attic trusses, and cranked steelwork within Green Belt planning constraints.
Delivered a fully coordinated architectural and structural roof solution that resolved challenging load paths, junction detailing, and buildability issues.
Achieved compliance with UK Building Regulations 2023, including fire safety, energy performance, moisture control, stair design, and overheating requirements for attic accommodation.
Reduced construction risk by identifying and resolving design clashes between trusses, steelwork, insulation, and services prior to installation.
Supported accurate site delivery through effective setting-out interpretation, measurement verification, and alignment of fabrication drawings with site conditions.
Ensured quality and specification compliance of key elements, including external doors, windows, and specialist frames, preventing delays and remedial works.
Maintained design quality and planning approval while supporting value engineering and cost control during the technical and construction stages.
Provided effective construction-phase support, responding to RFIs and site queries to keep the programme on track.
In working on this project, I contributed to the delivery of a small housing development within the Green Belt, managing complex room-in-roof designs incorporating multiple dormers, valleys, hips, attic trusses, and cranked steelwork. I coordinated closely with consultants and the site team to resolve technical and buildability challenges, maintain planning compliance, and meet the requirements of the UK Building Regulations 2023. Through detailed coordination, early clash resolution, and ongoing site support, I helped reduce construction risk, protect programme and cost, and ensure a high-quality outcome from design through to construction.
