Swarm of Desire

Description & Inspiration:

This artwork has been inspired by the poem L’Apres-midi d’un Faune by Stéphane Mallarmé and the bright colours of the Omega Workshops. When researching this artwork I was also excited by the way that intertwined branches and roots of trees looked erotic in the half light of woodland undergrowth. My final intention with the work is to have it installed in a forest so that it can be discovered like the faun found the nymphs in the poem .

Slipcast & hand built Earthenware, body stain, oxides. 

20cm wide,  25cm long, 30cm high. Made 2008/9.
