1  Organization

2  Objective

The Japan Centre for Human Environmental Problems (hereinafter referred to as JCHEP) conducts studies on environmental issues from the standpoint of social science and collects and provides information and conducts international exchanges on matters pertaining to environmental problems to foster the development of environmental law and environmental policy. The JCHEP's objective is to promote human welfare and global environmental conservation.

3  Projects

Followings are the JCHEP projects to achieve the aforesaid objectives:

#Plan and conduct research

#Collect and provide information

#Conduct seminars and lectures

#Provide legal advice

#Tie-up and cooperate with domestic and foreign related groups and scholars

#Edit “Environmental Law Journal”

#Undertake other projects necessary to achieve the JCHEP objectives

4  Characteristics

The JCHEP was established in 1973 as a new type of academic society, unlike any hitherto. 

While its membership is kept to 50 or less, it cordially welcomes the exchange of information and views with specialists interested in environmental problems. The JCHEP is a member of IUCN .
