Society will draw a circle that shuts me out, but my superior thoughts will draw me in.
I will continue to let society predict, but only I can determine what I will, can, or cannot do.
Failure is just as easy to combat, as success is to obtain.
I am the captain of only one life…my own.
I have the right to fail, but I do not have the right to take others with me.
No one will care as much about me as I must care about myself.
People will try to stop me from progressing, but no one will.
Success won’t come to me – I must go get it.
Education is the key to my success, and with that key, I will open many doors.
Not only for myself, but also for those that follow after me.
My school is my castle, where I learn how to think; no one can think for me.
I want to be the best at whatever I choose to do. No one can tell me I can’t.
I was born to win and a winner I will be.
I can either be hesitant or courageous. I can play it safe or be bold.
Wrightwood Wildcats are destined for greatness - we ARE college bound!
This year, I have been using The Growth Mindset Coach to lead my team through the journey of developing a more consistent growth mindset. The notes catcher on the right is for them to record at least one "WIN" for the day and to record their reflections on their mindset each week after our professional development sessions.
I bought the Independent Leader Program to Wrightwood in an effort to reward our leaders who consistently do what is necessary to be successful. Those who earn ILS at the end of the week get to dress down on Friday the following week.
We are piloting Class Dojo with middle school this year.
Those who earn ILS at the end of the week get to dress down on Friday the following week.
Each week, a teacher picks a student from their classroom to be the leader of the week. They fill out this form and it is hung on the bulletin board outside of the classroom.
I also facilitated the process of getting a school mascot made and choosing school colors (the leaders got to decide) - light blue, dark blue, and a little bit of red!
I have been intentional about developing the school leaders by observing them in action and getting feedback from those they lead. These reports are generated quarterly for leads to reflect and create action plans.
This is the checklist I use when I observe team meetings.
Each leader gets a Meet or Beat card at the beginning of the year so they understand the work that lies ahead. Parents also get a copy to hang up at home in addition to each classroom having a copy posted on the bulletin board outside in the hallway.
Each leader gets a To and Through snapshot to go home with their report card each quarter (page 1 of 2).
The To and Through snapshot shows leaders and parents predicted college options based on test scores.
We implemented EngageNY Math in the 2017-2018 year. Given that it is a rigorous curriculum, it was imperative that I ensure we stay on pace to exposing our leaders to all concepts. This is the assessment schedule for our elementary and middle school.
Although we use curricula that is scripted, it's important for teachers to understand the components of an effective lesson and be able to identify them within the resources. This document was created to help teachers internalize the scripted lessons they've been given.
Our school newsletter goes out weekly to families and counts towards homework completion in order for leaders to dress down on Fridays.
