Being a DoS at JCP was the best role of my career. I was an administrator who taught, so I got the best of both worlds! To keep track of all my responsibilities, I mapped out the Big Rocks related to each role (page 1 of 2).
I was an administrator who taught, so I got the best of both worlds! To keep track of all my responsibilities, I mapped out the Big Rocks related to each role (page 2 of 2).
I took the Big Rocks document and created a daily schedule to ensure I stayed on top of everything.
I was responsible for creating the weekly newsletter to go home with students every week. They had to get it signed and return it for an advisory grade. I also sent home progress reports every two weeks.
As the DoS, my primary responsible was to ensure the promotion and retention of all students from 9-12. I created this status sheet to go home with report cards each quarter to make sure advisors, students, and parents were well aware of the student's status.
As the advisory lead, I had each advisor sign up for topics to create lessons for. We shared and used each other's work. They were linked to the 7 Habits of High Effective Teens, which all students were required to read.
Another sample advisory lesson plan.
