The Causeway

I grew up on Sharbot Lake, and have many fond memories of enjoying being on the water here, whether canoeing or kayaking or lounging on a boat in the summer time, visiting with friends.

The causeway painted in the distance here is the link between the upper and lower ends of Sharbot Lake.  The two bridges dividing the two large bodies of water allow for car and recreational trail traffic to pass overhead.  I have many fond memories of waiting in turns to pass under these bridges, where the close walls echo the sound of the passage of both car and boat traffic, and the barn swallows nesting in the shelter of the man made structures chirp and dive overhead.  

The Causeway is painted in acrylic on prepared wood panel, sealed and mounted in a custom built black pine frame.  Outside dimesions are 9x12"
