Fishing at Sunset

I was going through some archival photos about life in Newfoundland and in particular the fishing communities around the coastline before resettlement, and there were some really stunning shots of men fishing on these little boats, all in shadow, backlit against the sea.  

That was the inspiration for this piece, and I really wanted to take the opportunity to play with the colour selections and the reflections off the water.  

Fishing at Sunset is painted in acrylic on prepared wood panel, sealed and mounted in a custom built black pine frame.  Outside dimesions are 15x12"
