The Cliffs of Bell Isle

Bell Island is the largest in Conception Bay, very near St. Johns, NL.  I vacationed here with family in 2018, and we had a chance to take the ferry over and tour the old iron ore mines, and then had lunch at the Keeper's Cafe before taking a hike to these cliffs, some of which towered as high as 45m above the surf.  

The concentrations of iron ore still present in the landscape lent to this gorgeous oxidized colour, as the salt and spray crashing against the shore gave the effect that the island is actively rusting out to sea.  

The Cliffs of Bell Isle is painted in acrylic on prepared wood panel, sealed and mounted in a custom built black pine frame.  Outside dimesions are 27x41"
