This website helps us organize our Jeffco Teens Internships. It's not a public website. Want to share a public website? Share www.jeffcoteens.org!
Extensive data collection shows that problems youth face that could, and should, be prevented through programs, systems and policy changes, include:
Substance misuse
Hopelessness and anxiety
Sexual assault & toxic relationships
Our work is addressing what is behind the problem (like the reasons why youth binge drink or changes that could lead to less hopelessness among youth), rather than de-stigmatizing or treating the problem once it's started (not that we are for stigmatizing or leaving problems untreated, of course!). Jeffco CTC works on things that will effect lots of people through making changes in the community, rather than projects or treatments for just a few people.
Youth are the ones who actually know what is going on in their own world and have the ability to influence our community change in positive ways. We hope this internship assists you in making change-- as well as making connections with other teens, adults and your community.

Youth Town Hall
April 21: Youth Voices Practice
This year, we will have many different teams working with community advisors on specific projects-- and each project will be organized a little differently. Each intern will go to:
Attend large group Jeffco CTC youth meetings, including 2 kick off meetings, 2 planning meetings and 1 celebration.
One of our meetings is a presentations to leaders in our community! You will create a 3-6 minute video about your project, then present your video at our Jeffco CTC Youth Voices Conference on April 28th, 2022 from 4-6 PM.
Work with your Community Advisor on a project at your team meetings. See the projects here.
Host at least 1 event with your team-- and invite both your friends & the other interns to attend (this could be a group art project, a Teen Spaces night, a focus group... or another event you think of). You can also open up your event to other youth in the community, if you want to.
You also will go to 4 (or more!) events hosted by other intern groups, one of which has to be the town hall on February 17th, 2022 from 4-6 PM.
Many times, other neat opportunities come up over the course of the year. We will be sure to let you know when they do!
Glad you asked. You will be paid by check from Jefferson County in May. We have a page on how you get paid.
