Introduction
For this weekly showreel, we are given the theme of futuristic. Now for this one, I wanted to go back to modelling, and a sword is what I wanted to make. for the model, I decided to make the sword from halo the energy word.
Test Model And Video
At first, I made an attempt at modelling this from my skills. To start I created a cube and extruded the cube. I did this along the image I was using till the end of the blade. I then thinned the bleed and added a subdivide modifier to add detail. Next, I went on to create the handle. For this, I used a cube and tried to form it into the handle shape. As you can see in their image down below this didn't work that well, the blade looked good but the handle was misshapen.
After this, I found a video going over the process by BlenderMadeEasy, where he goes over how to model texture and animate the sword. For modelling, he gets a plan along the shape extrudes each part extrudes it into 3D then adds the edge. For the handle, he uses a sphere and extrudes along the handle.
This resulted in a better final model but it was not too dissimilar to what I made.
For the texturing, he used shading and geometry nodes to create the lighting. For the handle he simply projected the image onto the handle topology here is the final render of the sword as it is at this point.

Animation Final Product
For the animation, I scaled it up from the pivot which scales it from the sides giving the look of it coming from the handle. For the final animation, I add a lab setting to act as a scene for the sword.
Feedback
To wrap this up I am happy with the final product and the topology is rarely good. I would have liked to make it without a tutorial as I like to gain independence. However, I can take these skills into consideration and use them for future projects. I really enjoy the texturing for this project and I am happy with how my idea fits the theme.
