I want to make a new game project similar to the game Noita. In this game, you play as a wizard going through a sky temple going up floors fighting through enemies and getting rewards. To start this project, I wanted to get the models made for the main character. I will make this game in Godot and I will be making the models in Blender.
I don't have recordings of the process of me modelling, but I made each one in parts, starting with the helmet. To start making it, I simply got a new cubic sphere using a blender add-on. To this, I wanted to create a wizard hat starting with a cylinder. I extruded it upwards, making slight movements to add some style.
Next, I wanted to make the body, starting with the collar. To make this, I copied the lower part of the sphere and removed the faces on the bottom. Then I extruded them downward to get the shape. To get the model thicker, I had to add the solidify modifier, making the plane a 3d mesh.
To get the body centre of the wizard, I copied the bottom of the collar and separated the mesh. After I did this, I began extruding down the side. For this mesh, I am only making one half, so I can have two halves connected for the final design. After I create the first half, I repeat the process on the other side but with less area. This did take some time as I did not know what design I wanted to go for. To connect the sides and make a stylized look, I added a part going between the two sides to act as a connector.
For the legs, I kept them simple as I did not want them to be a focus. It also fits with the style I am going for. To create them, I added a cube and scaled it down. I moved down the form face to create the foot. From the top, I extruded it halfway up the player, so the top can not be seen, this gives the effect of legs.
To all the models, I add a subdivided surface modifier to make the models smoother. I did this to add shape but did not go too far to ruin the style.
Next I want to make some textures, and I am going for purple for the model. I wanted to make the scheme a mix of purple, both dark and bright. For the helmet, I set it to black. I set the hat to dark purple, making a band around the hat a lighter colour. I set the collar and the connectors to light purple and set the body to dark purple. Lastly, I set the legs to dark purple to finish it off.
After making all of these choices, I decided to add a range of colours. I made on in blue, red, green, and gray. I then exported the models for the game.
