For this project, I wanted to work more on the story/concept for a game than actually making a game. I may make this into an actual project later on but right now it's more about the concept. For all this, I wrote it down in a note software called Obsidian but for documentation, I will copy it here. I will put it into different categories so you can look through them in order.
Villain:
Corrupted man:
The Corrupted man will appear in multiple forms throughout the game, showing multiple parts of his life. This will be seen in multiple forms, from photos to tape recordings, until the final reveal of him in person towards the end of the game. Here are the planned ways so far.
1. In photos, the corrupted man will appear normal with a slender, tall appearance. The face will be broken, with the player unable to get any detail on the appearance. This will lead towards the reveal later on where the player will see a man with longish dirty blonde hair.
2. In the recordings he will have a gentle calm voice with a general nerdy demeanour, this will later contrast with the more erratic voice as he slowly corrupts. Later in the game, once he is revealed, you will hear his voice which is a mix between the more eccentric erratic voice he developed over the logs mixed with a more robotic deeper calm voice.
Enemies:
Rat Bot:
The Rat Bots are a set of small robot rats. These rats are the corrupted man's first attempt at mixing the lives of animals with animatronic parts. The Rat Bots will be seen scurrying through the game, and schematics will be found on the table with the rest of the animatronics. They are harmless and can not be interacted with in the game. You will be able to find rat parts and animatronics parts laid on the ground further in the game, as well as cages.
Dog Bot:
The dog bots will be the first main enemy in the game. They will be found later in the game during the main exploration. They are a mix of general dogs and animatronics with poking parts of flesh and bones. This is a chunk after he began on the Rat Bots, so they show a more life-like movement and mental state. The robots will also have newer mechanical parts. They will be part of a chance scene with the player where he must get past the area they are patrolling.
Main Character:
A cop is sent from his station to check for disturbances at the residence of the corrupted man, the main character is a tall stocky man in a police outfit. The player will not see the character in the game, but it will be a part of the story to keep things consistent. There would be voice lines in the game, so he would have a deep normal voice with a bit of gruffness to match his age.
Flashlight:
The cop will have a flashlight that they carry around. The flashlight requires charging which it does automatically when not held. If held until completely out the flashlight will take longer to charge as the battery will be fully empty. The torch will flicker but be pretty bright and cover a large area.
Taser:
The taser will also need to charge but will be a single use and need charging each use. The taser will be the main defence against the main animatronics but will not be powerful enough to stop the full animatronics.
Movement:
The game will have basic movements like walking, running, jumping, crouching and sliding, with the player having to run from animatronics and slide down vents. The running will be based on stamina with the player only being able to run for a short period. The stamina will recharge fast so the player is not stuck waiting for a while. Each movement mechanic will allow access to a different part of the level.
Setting:
The game is set in the corrupted man's laboratory, the player starts as a cop searching the area after reports of missing children. The game will start in the first room, appearing to be a regular room. Once unlocked, the regular room will open up to a large, open room with a desk covered in papers. Once finished, the player finds a way to open the basement, the moment the player enters, the doors close behind hearing a laugh as this happens, the player will be unable to leave.
Regular Room:
This room will appear to be a very normal living room with tables, a sofa and chairs. There will be security cameras in the corner, which the corrupted man uses to find the player. There will also be a large locked door, which is where he appears to lock the player into the basement. The room will be drab and worn, as it has not been lived in for a long time. The room will have parts that are suspiciously new to show that it is not a normal room. The room will have things like family photos and child drawings strewn about the floor, this is to show the family of the corrupted man who has been used in his experiments.
Papers Room:
This room is a large open room full of CRT monitors with desks covered in papers and documents. The walls will be covered with torn wallpaper, revealing industrial-grade metal panels. This room will have important lore implications, with some documents showing a look into his ideas and mechanics. There will be a bunch of writing on the wall showing the deterioration in the mental state of the corrupted man. There will be a door leading to a set of stairs to the basement. They will be large and metal, showing that once closed they won't end up open again. In the back of this room, there will be a large corkboard showing a map covering plans, with notes covering each corner. There will be red strings going from one area to another. The board will show places like a pizzeria and daycare, with a big circle over the police station.
Hall to Basement:
The hall to the basement is the part of the game where the player first gets trapped. The doors shut behind them, locking them into the hallway. The hallway is dark with flickering lights throughout the room. The walls are plated with metal, recreating a similar style to the pizzeria from the original games. The walls are plastered with images and pictures referencing the games featuring animatronics. There will be pieces of animatronics scattered around the floor. At the end of the hall, there will be a set of doors leading to different paths, each door will take a different password which has to be found in each room before.
Story:
Main Character:
Corrupted man:
Obsessed with the work of William Afton, the corrupted man is trying to replicate the results of his work and trying to fuse himself with animatronics. He does not have clear works but he is trying to replicate the results of William.
Call:
Eventually, it will be revealed that the call of the disturbance in the room was done on purpose by the corrupted man. He has done this to get another soul for his work and this will be shown in the game subtly. This will be done in many ways.
1. Papers showing technical plans of the animatronics some labelled in a secret folder. The papers will mention topics like eternal life and the key to creating life. They will also show a slower obsession from the man and show plans of kidnapping and coercion.
2. A board showing a map covering plans, with notes covering each corner. There will be red strings from one area to another. The board will show places like a pizzeria and daycare with a big circle over the police station.
3. Voice lines will show a requirement of souls in his work at first he will be talking about using the souls of animals but over time he talks about his need for stronger souls. Later he will reveal that he has used the souls of his family including his wife and daughter. After he has done this with his family he will talk about how it is not enough for his research and how he needs more, which will later result in him using his own fusing himself with an animatronic.
There will be voice notes periodically left behind by the corrupted man.
Voice Notes:
1. A lot has been going on recently. With all the kidnappings and disturbances. The police have been going around all over but nothing seems to change. I wonder who is behind it all? If I can find out I may be able to help.
2. It all seems unusual, the reports all lead back to that place, but the police are covering it up, I wonder why? It looks like I will have to go there myself to the pizzeria.
3. Wonderful it's all so wonderful. The ideas have potential but at what cost, I must look into it.
4. The rats are not enough they keep failing. The smell is getting unbearable.
5. The work, it doesn't make sense there must be something I'm missing, a piece I just don't understand.
6. She walked into my work again I'm going to need stronger security. She is asking why the dogs are missing I need an excuse.
7. She doesn't understand, the complaining, the insistent whining. she keeps meddling in my work, if she is that interested I should include her (Small Laugh).
8. I need something more, stronger. The animals were working but it's not enough I need to be more sure.
9. It's all coming together the parts are finally adding up. (Small Laugh) the most important part I have been missing the whole time. What is a life without a Remnant?
10. You will be a good addition (Laugh).
