Persons coming to Indonesia for short term stays (longer than 60 days allowed on VOA), not as tourists and not for business, should apply for another category of visa - the Visa Kunjungan (Social/Cultural Visit Visa) at an Indonesian consular office overseas.
Social Visit Visa is given for single entry and valid for maximum 60 days.
Social visit visa can be extended for four times consecutively (up to 30 days per extension).
Requirements for visa application at the Indonesian ambassy abroad:
Passport contains at least one blank visa page. Amendment pages cannot be used for visa purposes. The expiration date of the original passport must be at least 6 months at the date of entry into Indonesia.
A letter of invitation from family, social organization, university/ school or cultural residence, which describes the purpose of the visit. The letter shall mention that the inviter will be responsible for the invitee during the stay in Indonesia.
Latest bank statement of the inviter as proof of financial sufficiency. (The applicant might be asked also to provide his/her latest bank statement in addition of that of the inviter.)
A copy of KTP (Indonesian ID Card) of the principal/ person who signed the letter of invitation if the person is an Indonesian citizen.
Round trip itinerary (original/ copy) or a letter from travel agents, airline company, steamship company, confirming the purchase of tickets to Indonesia.
One recent color photograph (passport size) on picture-quality papers.
One copy of ID card.
Validity: 6 months.
First initial stay: 60 days after arrival
Extension: 4 times (each extension for extra 30 days).

This type of visa is not suitable for work, if you intend to work you have to apply for visa index C-312.
This type of visa is valid for activities of:
1. tourism;
2. family;
3. social;
4. art and culture;
5. government visit;
6. non-commercial sport;
7. a comparative study, short course, and short training;
8. conducting emergency and urgent work.
9. discussing business;
10. buying goods;
11. giving lectures/attending a workshop;
12. attending international exhibition;
13. attending a meeting held by the head office or representative office in Indonesia;
14. continuing journey to other countries;
15. joining the mean of transport in Indonesian territory.
