Every year for the past 10+ years, I host and organize an annual Hispanic Heritage program for my school. Each year I have a different theme and I choreograph different dances that originate all over Latin America. In addition to dances, students also learn about literature, famous Latin people, and Latin cultures from around Latin America.

During my student teaching I tried creating a fun and engaging activity before Thanksgiving break. My 4th grade bilingual classroom and I explored the science behind making ice cream and we made ice cream for our experiment! Students learned about properties of matter, endothermic reactions, and the scientific method. Students also investigated the properties of ice cream as a liquid and a solid to help address how matter can change state due to temperature.
The kids were so excited to become scientists, wear their science gear, and loved learning about the science behind making ice cream! They worked so hard and did a phenomenal job!
My lesson made it in our District Newsletter!

Here is a video reflection that was done during my student teaching. I gave a lesson on multiplying using area models. I made the lesson into a game where students were able to work in groups to figure out the products. Students had a great time!
