This page shows you how to record a match 

Choose a match

You should see a list of matches that are today’s date or older that are available for recording. 

You can add new matches and new teams as required from this page or you can go to Set-up and plan your whole season!

Select your players

The home team has green selectors and the away team has purple selectors.

You can switch between teams and choose up to 10 players on each team to record.

The minimum is just 1 player on one of the teams.

You can add new players and you can select guest players from other teams - often needed if you are running multiple teams especially at junior ranks

Time Periods

The next step is to confirm the time periods for the match. The default is 4 periods of 12 minutes. You can amend this and add overtime periods that can be added during a game  if required. Once the match timer starts - the time periods cannot be amended.

Start recording

At the top of the page select 'record' and you will be taken to the scorecard - alternatively you can 'reset' your player selection or 'cancel' to choose a different match.

The above screenshot shows the scorecard before the game starts.

You can move between players using the squad number buttons above the match scores. The selected player's name appears in the header and the header and footer colours change to indicate their team.

You can choose your starting line up by clicking on the player's time - this toggles them from bench <-> court. You can change this as it happens during the match.


The players' timers will only start if the match timer is running. You can start or stop this by clicking the timer in the match scores at the foot of the screen. When it is clicked all on court players' timers start or stop.


if a player that you are NOT recording scores you can increment the team's score in the match scores at the foot of the screen. This information is needed to generate a players's plus minus stat which summarises scoreboard changes whilst that player is on the court.


Each of the Stats has its own green button and an adjacent orange minus button to quickly correct mistakes


The first 6 rows of buttons relate to shots at goal.


If the shot is successful (or Made) - click the FGM button for a field goal; the 3PM button for a 3 pointer; and the FTM button for a free throw. This will: 


If the shot is unsuccessful -  click the FGA button for a field goal attempt; the 3PA button for a 3 pointer attempt; and the FTA button for a free throw. This will: 


For field goal shots the app loads the shot map page. Press and long hold to record the court position where the player made the attempt. When you return to the recording page an orange circle showing a successful attempts or a purple cross showing a failed attempt is added to the map of the court in the background.  


You can use the pitch icon (bottom left) to set the orientation of the shotmap to match your location and the end your team is attacking. Next time you record a field goal the pitch will be rotated.


If you want to see the current shotmap at any time you can tap the record screen icon at the bottom to toggle it on and off - this view doesn't rotate.

If you make a mistake then press the corresponding minus key. The app attempts to keep the shotmap and shot attempts in synch by removing the latest entries so they tally. The app also stops you from reducing the attempts for a shot type below the corresponding number of successful shots


The following rows are for non-scoring stats:


AST - Assists

RBD - Rebounds (offensive)

STL - Steals

BLK - Blocks

TO - Turnovers

PF - Personal fouls


If a player gets to a double in any stat a basketball is displayed with the exception of  personal fouls and turnovers.



Timing during the game

When time runs out for a period the match timer goes red and so does the stopwatch icon at the foot of the page.

iPhones will vibrate for 3 seconds when this happens

You should stop the timer at this point as the players' timers will still be running.

Now click on the stopwatch icon and select the next period.

You can also amend the time left for the active period on this page.

Saving the recording

To save the stats press the save button that eclipses the top of the bottom menu bar. 

At this point you can enter match notes before proceeding to a list of players whose stats are ready to save

Once saved, you get the option to view/edit the stats and also share with another coach [see sharing stats]


Options to go back to recording or finish recording are offered - you will be warned if any stats have not been saved


Note: if you record and or save on multiple occasions for the same player in the same match you will overwrite the previous recording


Tip: If you are entering stats retrospectively you can save a game straight away without recording anything and then edit it to enter the stats directly. 

Importing a shared stat

On the main record page (see image at the start of this page) in the top menu bar click the share icon. This will display a list of stats ready for you to import. You can accept or reject these. If you accept you may correct any errors in the data for example if the wrong match has been selected or there is an error in one of the stats.
