Weed Tea

This Weed Tea bin is for weedy plants in flower, that would otherwise escape if placed into the compost pile or worm bins. That includes, but not limited to couch grass, cobblers peg, coat buttons and nut grass.

The bin will be "full" of water.

• Add the weeds into water - ensure they are completely underwater. It's called death by drowning.

• After about two weeks, the weeds might not be quite dead but will be well on the way.

• After about six weeks, a beautiful, brown, sludge appears and the weeds are completely dead.

• The structure of the weeds is left, but without the nutrients, which have seeped into the water.

• Put the weed debris into the compost heap so that it continues to break down.

• What remains is a liquid that makes a wonderful weed tea. Put it on the compost heap, so the nutrients accelerate the composting process and make it happen faster. Dilute to a mixture that's about one part weed tea to ten parts water - before it's ready for use.

• Please lock the bin. Just set to a random number to lock it.
