It's a Boy!
Praise God for the work He is doing in the life of *Anthony! Last week, Nick and I met with our new friend, *Anthony, who is studying at CSUF and saw his amazing openness to the gospel message we found in the first chapter of Mark's account of the gospel! This afternoon, we met with *Anthony to continue our dialogue through the first chapter of Mark, and we were excited to hear what *Anthony would tell us! While briefly catching up, *Anthony pointed out a distinct change that he's experienced ever since our last meeting together. He told us that he was experiencing a new peace and excitement for life that he hadn't experienced before, and he attributed it to our previous meeting! We continued to talk with *Anthony about this, and we believe that this was the presence of the Holy Spirit within him as he later confirmed that he has accepted Jesus' call to be His disciple!
We were so excited to hear of yet another way God has been working in the life of *Anthony to cultivate good soil, ready to receive the word of God! In today's brief meeting with *Anthony, we continued by exploring Mark 1:9-13 and the influence of the Holy Spirit on the life of those He baptizes. Just as Jesus was baptized by the Holy Spirit and then led by the Spirit, so we, as disciples of Jesus, ought to walk by the leading of the Holy Spirit! As the wind moved through the trees around us, we looked in John 3 as Jesus described those born of the Spirit being moved by an unseen force that moves as it wishes. In addition to His leading, we also acknowledged that the Holy Spirit is our comforter in times of testing so that we may be able to endure temptation as Jesus did!
What a joy to be a part of *Anthony's introduction to the life of being Jesus' disciple! We eagerly look forward to our future dialogues with *Anthony as we continue to uncover Jesus' instructions for those who follow Him! Next week we plan to gift *Anthony his own copy of the Bible as we celebrate his first birthday!
Prayer -
Pray that the Spirit of God would continue His work of renewing and restoring *Anthony into the wonderful image of His Son! Pray also that *Anthony would be strengthened by the Spirit to endure the new challenges and opposition he will experience as a disciple of Jesus!
May God bless you in your ministry,
Ivan Penrose
