Laborers of Love
"When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.'" Matt. 9:36-37
-NCP Team Fellowship Dinner-
Multiple times this week, I was blessed and reminded of the loving Christian community working in Orange County and at CSUF. We have unique methods and approaches to minister to a variety of people, but one thing we have in common is pursuing it in love. What a blessing it is when our fields overlap and we minister side-by-side with the other Christian ministries around us!
This week the NCP team met for the first of our weekly fellowship dinners where we shared about the ways God is at work in each of our lives and ministries and encouraged each other as we grow as a larger community!
-Partnership with CRU leaders in evangelism at CSUF-
While ministering at CSUF today, Nick and I ran into the leaders of a Christian campus ministry, CRU, that Nick has worked with in the past. They were just beginning their time of ministry today when they came by Nick and me. As Nick and I became their practice round for the evangelistic tool they were using, a young man walked up to engage with the question we had posted on our whiteboard, "Is Religion Safe?". What was previously a hypothetical evangelism scenario, quickly became a real-life opportunity for these leaders to step into evangelism. Nick and I had to head out, but we were stoked for this opportunity to hand over the reins of this evangelistic conversation!
Multiple other times this week, we have seen wonderful testimonies given about God's work in people's lives between those stopping to talk with us. It is a beautiful thing to provide an open space for students to engage with each other in a dialogue about their religious beliefs! They've even ended up preaching the gospel to each other at times!
Prayer-
Thank you, God, for the new ways you have been at work in Orange County and at CSUF! Thank you for the other laborers that you have sent into this harvest field and the leaders you have raised up for the loving ministry of reconciliation here and beyond! Please continue to send and strengthen us as laborers of the good works prepared for us in advance!
Blessings on you and your ministries,
Ivan Penrose
