Pre natal strength training has been proven to carry the following benefits:
Increased energy levels. Regular strength training boosts energy levels, reduces fatigue, which can be very difficult during pregnancy.
Aids in stress reduction. Resistance / strength training whilst pregnant has proven to relieve stress and improve sleep, whilst also releasing endorphins to improve stress and overall well-being.
Faster recovery. One of the biggest benefits of making your body strong during pregnancy is a speedier recovery, building muscle will help your body heal faster post-delivery.
Please note that it's not advised to begin Strength training until you have been given the all clear from your health care provider.
Post natal strength training has been proven to carry the following benefits:
Improves bone density and increases muscle mass.
Improves stability and reduces injury. During pregnancy you may notice a feeling of instability around the joints, strength training will aid you in targeting stability and give you back a feeling of being strong.
Maintain and improve your core and pelvic floor. Possibly one of the biggest changes for some women during pregnancy is the weakening of their pelvic floor. Strength training and specific core and pelvic floor exercises can aid and heal some of the pelvic floor issues you may experience during and after pregnancy. It has been proven that full body strength as a whole aids intra abdominal pressure during exercise and activity.
