One day, the world will end. As all things begin, so must they eventually end. For the angelic and demonic hosts, the looming apocalypse is a certainty, but the time is not. Many times over the millenia, prophets have tried to predict the end of the world, but their results have always been heavily skewed, and those in the know understand them to be limited by mortal perspective.
The world will end when the seven trumpets blow within the span of one year. And the trumpets blow when things that are truly miraculous or monstrous happen, events that are so rare and powerful as to strain the symphony itself. When that comes to pass, the Angelic and Demonic Hosts will meet in battle, and the world will be no more.
Those who have existed long enough have heard trumpets blow before. When Gabriel blows her trumpets, they are audible throughout the realms. Even those who are not able to hear disturbances in the symphony can feel the ripples, the sense of unease and exhilaration that comes. However, once a year passes from the sounding of the first trumpet, the count starts over. Three trumpets sounded the year that the Western Roman Empire fell, as the previously unimaginable rippled across the world. Three trumpets sounded as Mehmed’s forces marched into Constantinople, driving the world towards a unity of faith. Four sounded at the height of World War II, as acts of enormity pushed the world towards its fate. Since then, there have only been a handful of trumpets that have sounded.
There are forces within Heaven and Hell who want the final battle to come and try to engineer events to force the sounding of a trumpet. However, timing can be difficult and these plans often remain uncompleted, waiting on the right moment. Added to this is the fact that nobody knows what will make a Trumpet sound. Some seek examples from scriptural accounts of the end times, others look retrospectively at previous Trumpets to try and understand what made them sound.
