Workshop #2Recording:
Read chapter 6 before the next workshop in two weeks (September 27th).
What is the state of technology of your library to extend resources and services to segments of the potential users?
Who has robust access? Who has limited access? Who is left out and why?
Are there any libraries we can find that are is great shape for equitable access? How do they do it? How could other libraries invent equitable access?
Concentrate your technology analysis on digital collections rather than the physical collection owned by the library. This will focus all of us on connections development.
Have a rough draft of your analysis ready for workshop three and for submission to Canvas one week later.
Spotlight your library; then, compare to your type of library; finally; to all types of libraries
Word count on slides
illustrations; not just words
Be sure that you include a needs assessment for public libraries or a curriculum study for school and academic libraries.
Be sure you make some recommendations for reaching out to the unserved.

Brainstorming about reaching the unserved: topical collections and connections
Presentation 1 final due in one week to be submitted on Canvas next Tuesday September 20, 2022
Find the questionnaire at: https://goo.gl/59iNQu
For each question, you need three parts: pre pandemic; pandemic, and post pandemic if possible.
Be sure you have done the research to fill in this questionnaire and submit it before the third workshop. You can see other class member responses at: https://goo.gl/xIdZ26
NOTE: Please answer the questionnaire only once. Feel free to copy and paste the questions in a word/google document, type out your answers there, and then copy and paste the answers into the Google form all at once when you're done.

You will get access to edit that page of the virtual library
For Presentation 4 you will work on and update a page of the Virtual Library guide
On the google doc sign up for a page of the Virtual Library to work on (you can do a library page, theory, or a collection page that you want to update the links, proof read, add content, and update to today's standards. You could also suggust a new page you'd like to add that you feel is missing)
As an example Updating Content on the Art page: Are there already digital museums of the world you could add alink or refer to? Are there music libraries or other digital collections we could refer to to round this out? Music libraries? Museums? Digital art archives?
Children's classics added as it's own collection
Public library breaking it up into Adult and Childrens and adding content etc.
What's next
Turn in your community project to Canvas by next Tuesday (September 20, 2022) or before.
Do the research for the technology presentation during the next two weeks.
Please do a quick survey of the rest of the chapters in our textbook before the next workshop. We will think through the topics there and the THEORY page of the Virtual Library Guide and figure out how to do the theory assignment that will count for both theory and Textbook reading.

Look at your library's website to see if there is anything that is positive rather than defensive of intellectual freedom. We will be thinking about presentation as a result of what we find.
Our essential questions: What is design thinking? How can we plan the second part of this course to maximize its usefulness for each person? Also, the objective: Create something that will benefit you personally as a collection and connection professional
What is design thinking? How is it different from traditional Inquiry done in libraries? https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aoA1Qip-WaKym4PM17Sup1Q6vOsnNUQlwQNJGCDhFq8/edit?usp=sharing

For Presentation 6: Possibility looking at offensive actions for mentoring parents and patrons on intellectual freedom.
