Find a collection or several collections you can use as the basis for the entire course.
Think about the makeup of the community; their needs, and what is currently happening to serve those needs during the pandemic.
Look at the library you are interested in, but also look at the other types of libraries in that community that are serving patron needs..
During the workshop, we will decide on the product of your investigation that will be due the week after our first workshop.
Our study will be part of the empathy step of design thinking.

The objective: Create something that will benefit you personally as a collection and connection professional and, perhaps we can serve the profession as a whole
Some possibilities to be determined over the next month:
Make the VL Guide even better
Build a major new page on the VLG Guide for challenged collection problems or perhaps a whole new website
Solve one or more major problems as individuals or small groups.
Build your own expertise in a particular area of collection and connection development.
Activity 4: Building Presentation One: The Community: The first step in Empathy:
Obtaining permission to study a partcular collection or a part of a collection.
Who are our potential patrons?
What are their characteristics?
Who darkens our doors? Pre and post pandemic.
Who doesn't and why not? Pre and post pandmic
What is a needs assessment or curriculum study?
See the Presentation One page for guidance.
