While we wait for the return of our Lord, we have a big mission to be a part of. Each day is going to present new situations and challenges, and a lot of times our challenges can be found in comfort! Have you ever found yourself falling away from your disciplines because you're just too comfortable? When you settle nicely into that rut of everyday life, we aren't challenged to grow or be ready for battle. And if you wake up thinking that there is not a battle going on today, the evil one has already taken you out of the fight.
Let’s look at the good Teacher and what He has done Himself. Jesus fasted for 40 days, put Himself at His weakest physically, and then took on the world’s greatest tempter. This moment in scripture could have been the end of it all if Jesus had given in even a tiny bit in what was physically His weakest moment. But instead, He had scripture memorized for when temptations came. He knew what was true and what was of the world. Sometimes it's hard for us to tell those things apart or see the bigger picture and recognize ourselves falling into those comfortable ruts. Let’s continue to read our Bibles as much as we can, especially with the never-ending news feed we have in our pockets. What is preparing you for the battle today?
