Some words from our organizing committee
It was a great pleasure to work with the clinical psychology trainees from UCSI for the “Therapy 101” event. They were quite helpful in guiding the MindFlu committee members in organizing their first event about therapy sessions. The whole event aligned well with MindFlu’s objective of breaking the stigma around seeking help for mental challenges. Thanks to the 8 trainees, we were able to conduct the event successfully.
The “Break the Stigma” event aimed to identify the common stigmas regarding mental health amongst university students and inform them of the proper ways to tackle these stigmas. Through the activities prepared by the committee members, the participants were able to learn about the stigma surrounding mental health while having fun at the same time. Ms. Lee Sook Huey has delivered an articulate and clean speech of which participants found extremely informative. A quote from Bill Clinton, “Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of, but stigma and bias shame us all,” so let us “break” the stigma together.
It was MindFlu's pleasure to receive the two-year sponsorship from Khind, which had aided us in achieving the top three out of so many engaging projects. Our team appreciates Khind for supporting the social cause for mental health and being a platform to spread the word about the importance of mental health for the youth and the public. It was our highlight for 2019. We truly do appreciate it. Thank you for taking part in creating a more understanding and accepting generation for mental well-being!
