To give you a sense of what the semester abroad is going to look like, here is a typical day for a student doing the program.
In France, breakfast is not the most important meal of the day. The cliché about croissants is real: you can stop by the nearest boulangerie, in lieu of breakfast, before heading to class.
Vogue's "Where to find the best croissants in Paris" list
If you are looking to get some of the best croissants in Paris, Maison d’Isabelle, 4th on Vogue’s list of best croissants, is only a short 10-min walk from FIE.
Depending on your housing situation, it takes between 15 and 55 minutes to get to FIE. Once you arrive in the building, you meet your classmates on the CoFi room, in the basement. The room is available for you during the day to relax or study if you’d like. You then head to class for about 2 hours. Most IPP classes are in the morning but a few of them are held in the afternoon.
After class, you can have lunch in one of the many restaurants around the IPP headquarters or take food to-go from a snack-bar. In the area, you will find boulangeries where you can buy baguette sandwiches and other snacks. World cuisine is also available, with vegetarian and vegan options, around FIE with restaurants and fast-food places offering Indian, Chinese, Lebanese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Tibetan cuisine, and many more. The cheapest option is at the nearby "CROUS" dining hall, which is only a 7-min walk from FIE.
If the weather is nice, we recommend you eat on the rooftop of FIE and enjoy a nice view of Paris or in the beautiful "jardin du Luxembourg", garden created in the early 17th century's by queen Marie de Medicis, located right in front the FIE.
After lunch, the library is available for you to study but you can also go to the Sainte-Geneviève library near the Panthéon (5min walk from the FIE). Depending on your schedule, you may have class at CCFS until 7pm before heading back home for a dinner with your host family, at the foyer, or go eat out with friends.
