Students should choose 2 elective courses of 30 hours which run the full 10 week semester. The 30-hour courses are worth 5 ECTS credits, or 3 Illinois credit hours.
You must register for your courses on-line (through the school intranet at ESCP). You will receive an email from ESCP when the portal will open. Fall participants registration will begin in May and in November for spring participants. About a month after the end of the on-line registration, you can check the intranet to see which courses you have been enrolled in. ESCP will also email you to let you know that your registration has been approved and prompt you to login to check your schedule.
Finance courses tend to be very difficult at ESCP and are not promoted to UIUC students. If you do want to take finance courses, exceptions are possible.
Class attendance is mandatory. You can typically be absent twice in a 30 hour course without penalty (verify current rules for each class you are in).
Your records officer will use the final Course Approval Form you submit to determine how the course will transfer to UIUC (grade, credit/no credit, and the course equivalency). The transcript and credit recommendation will be sent to the Registrars Office for final processing. They will add the courses, credits, and grades to your permanent record. Please note that it could take up to three to six months for your final grades to appear on your DARS.
Visit the Study Abroad Course Approval Database to view courses that already have a UIUC course equivalency. If you want a course articulated that is not in the database, fill out the Business Course Approval Request Form or the Gen Ed Course Approval Request Form.
Submit your course approval summary form shortly after your semester begins. View details and instructions here: https://www.studyabroad.illinois.edu/outgoing-students/course-approvals/college-instructions/business/index.html
We do not recommend studying abroad your final semester, or graduation will be delayed.

The Registrar’s Office will register each student for BUS 399 at 12-credit hours. This is a placeholder course which shows that you are still a full-time student at the University of Illinois. After we receive your transcripts from your host institution, the BUS 399 will still appear on your schedule but for 0 hours and the courses you take abroad will be transferred as BUS 388 for credit with appropriate sections, course number, and title for course articulations for degree requirements/credits.
Students will be automatically enrolled in LAS 291/292.
Students must enroll in a sufficient amount of courses in-person at the host university to be considered a full-time student. This must convert to a minimum of 12 UIUC credit hours.
Students are also allowed to register for 1 UIUC online courses at no additional cost. These do not count toward your full-time status at your host university.
Many students take BADM 310, BADM 320, or FIN 221 as one of those online courses when offered, but are not limited to these courses. You are not required to take any online courses while abroad, other than the mandatory LAS 291/292 course.
