Due to 41 degrees heat index yesterday, the first ever MORESGAA (Misamis Oriental, El Salvador City and Gingoog City Athletic Association Meet) working group scheduled the games from 7 to 9 in the morning and will resume at 4 in the afternoon.
According to the District Nurse of Jasaan North District, Maristella M. Cantere, the new schedule is for the prevention of heat strokes and other heat related incidents among athletes and coaches.
“The game only starts at 7 and ends at 9, parama-prevent nato ang mga heat stroke we will resume in the afternoon at 4,lisud na mangaunsa sila” she added.
To ensure the safety of the athletes, the medical team reached out to the referral system, support from the Local Health Unit and several medical associates if ever there will be an accident.
In addition, Nurse Cantere added that they hired a nutritionist to make the menu and monitor the food, making sure that the athletes will only eat the right kinds of food.
“We have nutritionist nga mag himo sa menu and pag monitor sa food para nga healthy jud ang pagkaon sa mga athletes so ang mga dhefs kay ga follow ra sila sa menu sa nutritionist and most specially bawal ang softdrinks,” she stated.
