The rising temperatures during the summer months make it particularly difficult to hold events. Yet, MORESGAA was held regardless. While it appears to be a waste of resources and putting student athletes in jeopardy, the necessity to conduct the activity to secure representatives for the regional competition prevails. Lest, organizers and hosts are doing the best they can to make it safe for athletes.
The event organizers have scheduled all the sports events in different time stamps in the early morning and the late afternoon as a way to circumvent the scorching heat and have athletes not experience the full toll of the summer sun. It’ll do great for the on field athletes as they are more at risk than athletes who are stationed indoors and even then it’s great for everyone the cooler temperatures during the early morning and late afternoon would ensure their efficiency and performance.
In addition the athletes are provided with water, snacks, and necessary food approved by a dietician and are constantly reminded to keep hydrated. That way they don’t ever dehydrate and lessen their chances of having a heatstroke. Since they’re minors, diet and hydration is primary and it’s emphasized more because of the high temperature and the organizers are faring well in this aspect.
The medical team is also ready anytimea and not just that, part of the reason for holding the MORESGAA in Balingasag is because of its nearby hospitals, that could cater immediately to medical emergencies such as sprain and other injuries or worse, heat stroke. It’s safe to say they are prepared.
As scheduled in the DepEd calendar of activites, the MORESGAA is held during summer. With this, the department has taken extra measures to warrant the safety of the athletes. Taken into consideration are the scheduling of the sport events, their diet and hydration and the availability of medical help.
Kudos to all the organizers. Thanks to them for the events are running smoothly and without mishaps. We’re experiencing a very hot climate, drink plenty of water and keep refreshed.
