Since my High School years I have been interested in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. As a mean to learn more about them, I chose to pursue my degree on Industrial Biotechnology in the University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez Campus. During my first year of college I was introduced by amazing professors into the vastness of Biotechnology as a science field. Particullary, I recieved more information about related applications of Biotechnology in Medicine, Agriculture, Nanotechnology and Marine Life settings. As my college journey progressed I obtained more knowledges and skills that helped me to become part of the research team in Quality Validation for the UPRM’s Chemistry Department. From this experience I experienced first hand how a scientist conducts experiments and applies the knowledge that as students we learn from our college courses. Currently I’m on the fifth year of my bachellor’s degree and have develop a strong interest in the areas of fermentation and renewable energy. I have to say that my past research experience helped me to grow as an upcoming scientist and expanded inmensely my knowledge. My journey keeps going and 2018 will surely be a period for growth and development!
