The team of the International Genetically Engineered Machine from the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez Campus (Team IGEM RUM) cordially invites you to be the key piece in our team’s success by becoming a sponsor. By sponsoring us, you will be giving us the opportunity to synthesize a better world by competing in the International Genetically Modified Machine Competition (IGEM), a worldwide competition between universities, where we would be the first team participating from Puerto Rico and the whole Caribbean. The IGEM Competition is an opportunity for university students to develop different skills focused around synthetic biology, either in the technical or/and management areas. The members will be able to develop leadership, teamwork skills and will put to practice knowledge learned in classes such as genetics, programming, biochemistry, and microbiology. It should also be acknowledged that your contribution would not only be utilized to compete at the IGEM Competition and be a vital piece in the development of each member, but will also aid in the development of other projects to promote the use of synthetic biology at the university and bring interested students together.
Also, our team is an active member in the community's charitable work and together we can change our community both inside and outside the lab. But to be able to complete our goals we need your help. The estimated cost for the whole project, is $45,000, the total includes materials, outreach activities, transportation and registration fees. We need your help to conquer new innovative beginnings and help our community the way synthetic biology knows how to. Be part of the changes we need. Become our sponsor!
