I am a fourth year Biology Major student at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus. Since I was little, I wanted to be an important part of the scientific community that was trying to change the world one discovery at a time. In middle school, I became fascinated with biology and its many fields when I first saw a laboratory in a college open house tour, and I saw the chance to be part of the community that I always wanted. I started by competing in every science fair and shadowing every professional I could. In my college years, I’ve participated in as many genetic workshops and gained as much laboratory experience as I could. I’ve been part of many student associations and leadership positions, and the one that brings me the most pride and sense of participation in the scientific community that I’ve longed since I was little, it’s the wonderful opportunity of be the Chief financial officer and an active member of the biology team within the iGEM RUM research team.
