The Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM), Kolkata has signed a prestigious MoU with JSW MG Motor India Pvt. Ltd., on 5.7.2025 making us the only college in West Bengal to achieve this milestone.
Key Highlights of the Collaboration:
Hands-on Skill Development: Faculty from the Department of Electrical Engineering will undergo a Train-the-Trainers CAEV (Connected, Autonomous & Electric Vehicle) + AI program through which our students will be trained.
Certification: Participants completing the CAEV + AI course will receive a joint certification.
Expert Sessions: Access to guest lectures by MG Motor industry experts.
Industry Exposure: Industrial visits to the MG Motor plant at Halol, Gujarat for real-world learning.
This collaboration will empower our faculty and students with cutting-edge skills in EV and AI technologies, bridging the gap between academia and industry, and preparing our learners for the future of mobility.
This LETTER of Understanding (LOU) is made among:
(i) Department of Electrical Engineering, NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (NIT), UTTARAKHAND, an institute of national importance established in 2009 under the Act of Parliament by the Ministry of Education (Shiksha Mantralaya), Govt. of India, and
(ii) Department of Electrical Engineering, INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING & MANAGEMENT (IEM), UNIVERSITY OF ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT, located at Salt Lake Electronics Complex, Kolkata- 700091, W\.B., India, and
(iii) Mr. AMITAVA DAS, Research Consultant, currently affiliated with the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) – Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI), Durgapur – 713209
NIT UTTARAKHAND and IEM KOLKATA are each a “Party” and together are referred to as the “Parties”.
The purpose of this LOU is to state the intentions of the parties in undertaking collaborations for purely academic purpose and exploring the possibility of establishing a partnership for the scientific research exploration and collaboration on different sectors of engineering and technology, together with inclusion of relevant fields. The Parties thus have common interests and will cooperate in the activities as stated below.
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is made on 16.03.2024 between the Institute of Engineering & Management Kolkata, the Department of Electrical Engineering and POLYCAB INDIA LIMITED
The objective of the MOU is to:
i) Strengthen academia-industry interaction for knowledge sharing and capability building through collaboration.
ii) Set up a student driven technical community titled Polycab Ampions to create avenues for greater engagement and continuous learning avenues with PIL.
iii) Provide exposure to the students on the practical and trending issues in power sector
iv) Encourage research on issues related to the Indian power sector.
(v) Leverage the resources in the academia/industry to evolve innovative solutions to contemporary problems.
Institute of Engineering & Management Group partners with SMS Group Pvt Ltd to set up a Center of Excellence in Industrial Automation.
SMS Group stands for future-oriented technology and outstanding service in plant construction and mechanical engineering for the metals industry.
The MoU signing Ceremony was held on 2nd June’2023, at IEM Gurukul Campus, Kolkata and was signed by Mr. V V Sitaramaya, Vice President, Head of EA Flat Rolling Mills, Electrics/Automation on behalf of SMS Group & Mrs Gopa Goswami, Director Corporate Relations, UEM-IEM Group.
Automation Course has been designed by Industry subject matter experts. Our students' educational success in industrial automation will be aided by this Center of Excellence.
