POSTER-ON (POSTER MAKING COMPETITION)
Date: 31st of October, 2025
POSTER-ON 2K25, organized under SKILLS STRIKE 5.0 by IET–IEM On Campus, was a technical poster-making competition aimed at showcasing students’ ability to present innovative engineering ideas, research insights and technological concepts through creative visual representation. Held on 31st October 2025 at the Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM), Management House,the event provided a vibrant platform for participants to merge creativity with technical knowledge.
The competition encouraged participants to communicate complex engineering ideas with clarity and precision while highlighting real-world applications and innovative solutions. Each poster reflected a balance of analytical thinking, research understanding and design excellence bringing technology and creativity together in a single frame.

Round 1: Quiz Competition – The first round consisted of a quiz session which was held on 1st September, where participants actively took part and showcased their knowledge. There were 22 teams that participated, and among them, 8 teams qualified.
Round 2: Main Event – The second round was the main event which was held on 3rd September where participants presented their ideas/performances and engaged with the audience and judges.
The Round 2 Event began with the gracious arrival of the Chief Guest Prof. Debasis De, who was warmly welcomed by the organizers. The session formally commenced with a welcome speech, extending greetings to the dignitaries, participants, and audience.
BRAINS, BOTS & BREAKTHROUGHS 2025
Date: 9th August 2025
The department of Electrical Engineering organized a 48-hour coding marathon – BRAINS, BOTS & BREAKTHROUGHS 2025, hosted by IEEE IAS SBC, IEM Kolkata. A total of 27 participants from various institutes took part, developing AI-powered applications around themes such as Electric Vehicles, Renewable Energy, Robotics, and Cybersecurity.
The event began on 9th August 2025 at 10:00 AM with an online inauguration, followed by mentorship sessions, project submissions (APK files & GitHub repositories), and concluded with evaluations and the announcement of winners.

SIMULCRUM – Project Presentation
Date: 11th April 2025
The SIMULCRUM project presentation session, held on 11th April 2025, showcased innovation, research, and hands-on problem-solving skills. Taking place in the Management Building of IEM Kolkata, this event offered budding technologists from the EE and EEE departments a platform to present their hardware and software-based projects. In collaboration with Posternova, the venue transformed into a bustling hub of ideas where prototypes demonstrating interdisciplinary work, teamwork, and practical knowledge.

The POSTERNOVA poster presentation session, was held on 11th April 2025,and served as a platform for students to exhibit their research, innovative ideas, and technical solutions through visually engaging posters. Hosted in the Management Building of IEM Kolkata, this event complemented SIMULCRUM, creating a dynamic environment where theoretical concepts met practical applications. Participants from the EE and EEE departments presented posters spanning cutting-edge topics, fostering interdisciplinary discussions and peer learning. The session emphasized clarity, creativity, and communication skills, with students defending their work during interactive evaluations.

The event aimed to encourage students to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Social Good, focusing on four critical themes: Climate Change, Healthcare & Mental Health, Education, and Urban Sustainability. The hackathon provided a platform for participants to develop AI-driven solutions that address real-world societal challenges.

CODE-ON (Hackathon Based on Data Structures & Algorithm)
Date: 21st of January, 2024
Department of EE, EEE and IET–IEM Student Chapter conducted CODE-ON, as a part of the third edition of the annual flagship event – SkillsStrike 3.0 on 21st January, 2024. CODE-ON was an online hackathon based on Data Structures and Algorithms.
Overall, 116 participants took part in CODE-ON on 21st January, 2024. This event was an individual event was conducted in online mode on the HackerRank platform. There were 10 programming challenges to be solved and the competition window was open from 12 hours. The participants belonged to different streams and years and from reputed colleges like NITs, IIITs, VIT and many others. The prize money for 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions was ₹10,000 , ₹6,000 and ₹4,000 respectively.
The top three position holders are as follows:

1st Online International Olympiad on Circuit Theory
Date- 03rd January, 2022
IOCT 2022, the 1st Online International Olympiad on Circuit Theory organized by Department of Electrical Engineering, IEM Kolkata in collaboration with SMART SOCIETY, USA and jointly sponsored by Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM), Kolkata successfully held on 3rd January 2022 from 8 PM to 10 PM (IST).
The organizing team comprised of Prof. Dr. Madhumita Pal, Prof. Ranjita Chowdhury, Prof. Mandakinee Bandopadhyay would like to thank all the IEM-UEM family members for their support and cooperation.
With 300 contenders from all over the world, it was a really thrilling and hard-fought competition. The IOCT was attended by participants all over the world and as well as from the eminent institutes of India such as IITs, NITs and IIITs, BITS Pilani, JU, IIEST Shibpur, and from different research centers and universities.
