An invited talk on Mimicking Human Organ with MEMS and Microfluidics Technology was held on 11th September 2025 at IEM Seminar Hall, IRDC Lab, Kolkata. Delivered by Dr. Koushik Guha, HoD, ECE, NIT Silchar , the event was jointly organized by EE & EEE Departments, IEM Kolkata, in association with IEEE IES SBC, IEEE SSCS SBC, and IEEE SSCS Kolkata Chapter.
The talk highlighted advancements in MEMS and Microfluidics and their applications in organ-mimicking systems and biomedical engineering. It drew active participation from students, faculty, researchers, and industry professionals, providing insights into futuristic healthcare technologies.
On 27th August, 2025, the IEI-IEM Students' Chapter from the Electrical Engineering Department successfully organized an Alumni Tech Talk featuring Mr. Sayak Acharjee, a distinguished alumnus of the department. Sayak Acharjee is an entrepreneur and marketing professional with a strong academic and corporate background. He holds a MBA in Marketing from XIME, and is currently enhancing his global business acumen through a professional certification program at SP Jain. He is the Founder of Wealthy Waste, a bootstrapped eco-friendly startup that has been widely recognised for its sustainable product. The initiative has won multiple awards, been featured in reputed newspapers, and earned him a written appreciation from Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Alongside his entrepreneurial journey, Sayak has gained valuable experience working with emerging startups such as Tutedude, Metvy Learn, and Altor Smart Mobility, contributing to their growth strategies
The Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM) hosted a remarkable event on the 6th August, 2025.The occasion marked the Installation Ceremony of the Institution of Engineers India (IEI) and featured the induction of new society members and core team members. The event was further embellished by a captivating debate competition that attracted participation from both internal and external college teams. The presence of distinguished delegates from IEI Kolkata added prestige to the proceedings, making it an evening to remember.
The Ceremony was overseen by Prof. Debashis Jana, Faculty Mentor, IEI-IEM Students’ Chapter (Electrical Division).The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Anirban Datta, Honorary Secretary, IEI Bengal Chapter, Founder & CEO of PIMECAS Engineering Solutions, who served as the Guest of Honour for the ceremony along with Prof.Dr.Subhojit Kar, HOD of EE Department, IEM Kolkata.
AARAMBH 1.0, the inaugural IEEE Awareness Program organized by the Department of Electrical Engineering, Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM), Kolkata, was held on 16th July 2025. The event aimed to introduce students to the world of IEEE – the global platform for innovation, research, and professional networking. It provided a comprehensive understanding of the benefits of IEEE membership, the importance of student chapters, and the role of IEEE in shaping future engineers into global professionals and leaders.

The Department of Electrical Engineering at IEM Kolkata, in collaboration with IEEE IAS, IES, and CSS-IMS Chapters, successfully hosted a distinguished lecture on "EV Load Modelling Techniques" on 16th July 2025. The session was delivered by globally renowned expert Prof. Atif Iqbal, IEEE Fellow from Qatar University. This event, organized in a hybrid format, aimed to provide insights into one of the most pressing and relevant areas of modern power systems – the modelling and integration of Electric Vehicles (EVs) into the electrical grid.
The Department of Electrical Engineering, IEM Kolkata, in association with IEEE INDUSTRY APPLICATION SOCIETY STUDENT BRANCH CHAPTER successfully hosted a Distinguished Lecture on "CURRENT STATUS AND PROSPECTS IN NANO TECHNOLOGY INDUSTRY" on 21st March 2025 in online mode.
The keynote speaker for the session was Prof. Young Chul Choi, a renowned professor from Yonsei University from South Korea.

Distinguished Foreign Lecture by Prof. Mihaela Albu, Professor of Electrical Engineering at the esteemed Politehnica, University of Bucharest, Romania on 25th of January, 2024 . The session was based on High reporting rate measurements, a critical facet in advancing the efficiency and intelligence of modern grid systems.

On 11th November, 2020 IEI-IEM Students’ Chapter, Electrical Engineering Department has successfully arranged a webinar on “Energy and environment problems facing the third world and their probable solutions for sustainable development and poverty alleviation” by esteemed author Prof. Dr D.P. Kothari.
In this session speaker explained about energy generation, energy management and energy conservation. He also explained how new renewable energies have has significant impact on all over the world and due to the current power sector scenario the challenges faced for grid integration. Finally he has lightened up the probable solutions along with the future opportunities.
