MoS, Dr Jitendra Singh felicitates team NIVAS 2.O for bagging SDI awards

Assistant professor Gunjan Kumar and students from Institute of Engineering & Management, Kolkata along with their team ‘NIVAS 2.O’ bagged Solar Decathlon India awards in multifamily housing division at Solar Decathlon India Design Challenge 2021-22 held in New Delhi.Their real-estate partner is Mahindra Life spaces and Industry partner is Design to occupancy(D20), Lloyd Insulations(India) limited.

They were felicitated by Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, at Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi on 1^st July 2022.

Dr. Singh, who was chief guest on the occasion, congratulated the participants and winners of Solar Decathlon India for taking up real, live-building projects and developing innovative solutions. According to him, Solar Decathlon India (SDI) is assisting in the development of the next generation of architects, engineers, and entrepreneurs who can deliver net-zero-energy buildings in line with nation Net zero mission and India sustainable development Gola’s.

Solar Decathlon India is conducted under the aegis of the India-US Science and Technology Forum(IUSST); joint initiative of Government of India and U.S Department of State. The Solar decathlon India is a challenge among postgraduate and undergraduate students from Indian institutions to learn and design net-zero-energy-water, affordable, and resilient design solutions for real, live projects to combat climate change through the building sector.

Assistant professor Gunjan Kumar; alumni of IIT(ISM) Dhanbad and researcher at Jadavpur university along with his student team develop a unique cloud based smart building system that will save consumer electricity bill through Internet of things (Iot) and Machine learning integration. Mr. Kumar was also awarded Best Faculty lead in 2021 by Solar Decathlon India for his great mentorship and ongoing research work

FRUCTOROIPE- The best Project award at "4th Regional Science and technology congress "( southern region) 2019.Which is held by 'Department of Science & technology and Bio - technology, Government of West Bengal & MAKAUT West Bengal ' was guided by prof. Gunjan Kumar.
