⚠️ Important: carry sufficient Japanese yen in CASH
Although major facilities accept credit card payments, there are still many places that only accept cash payment (e.g. local restaurants and some public transportation/taxi).
For payment at Medical Facilities: Hospitals and clinics in Japan generally require cash payment at the time of visit. Foreign visitors without Japanese yen may be refused treatment, including in cases involving ambulances. Please make sure to carry sufficient Japanese yen in cash at all times.
