felting beads

The wet felting technique I teach uses wool roving.  Participants will  felt one bead at the workshop and take home wool for two more.

Participants will tightly roll some wool roving

add a squirt of soapy water then roll the bead until the scales on the wool fiber open up then interlock.

Each person should bring a hand towel to work on and a baggie or envelope to take home a supply of wool for two more beads..    We provide squirt bottles of soapy water.

Kids with sensory issues often find the process soothing.  I've shared the project with my kids' classes at Magnet Arts and The Village School.

this video demonsstrates.

Give me two hours and I'll teach teens a skill that will empower them to create inexpensive gifts and personal adornment.
