The European Robotics Forum, the most influential meeting of the robotics community in Europe, has been held online due to the COVID-19 restrictions, on 13-15 April 2021. Over 1000 European robotics top experts are expected to attend the 11th edition of the conference. ERF2021 hosted a major exhibition where companies, universities and research institutes showcase the most advanced European prototypes, products, services and projects funded under EU’s Horizon 2020 research programme. With over 50 workshops highlighting the newest robotics research, the event offered a unique window to the latest developments on the European markets.
Within this context the 8th Workshop on Hybrid Production Systems took place on April 13th.
This workshop is dedicated to presenting the latest technologies, research results facilitating Human Robot Collaboration (HRC) in an industrial setting. Some examples of such technologies are:
Mobile autonomous co-workers
Innovative human machine interfaces for collaboration
AI based dynamic planning and control of hybrid production systems
Versatile manipulation
Exoskeletons, human supportive robotic systems
Workplace optimization technologies
Perception as an integrated cognitive capability, considering collaborative perception
Facing the non-expected situations and adapt their behavior to better handle them
Human safety and novel methods for autonomous and AI based risk assessment
The aim of this workshop is to present early results from ongoing research projects, final results from finished projects as well as the lessons learned from the latter ones. The purpose is to exchange experiences between the researchers with respect to the presented results and give to the researcher/inventor feedback. Additionally, the purpose of the workshop is to inform the community of emerging technologies that may soon be available on the market.
