Cover Less, Learn More

In this 3-day workshop, Laura Terrill led us through every single step to create a thematic unit. I still remember the first time I listened to Laura’s presentation. That was at the 2015 ACTFL convention and was my first year in the field of K-12 education. She encouraged us to put the textbooks away and really focus on the real-world with authentic materials. Her presentation was so powerful that I started my journey right away of developing engaging thematic units instead of using textbooks after coming back to school.

So even though this is not my first time hearing Laura talking about creating our own thematic units, I still feel so empowered because I could catch more details this time. Last but not least, I was touched by all her thoughtful, detailed and thought-provoking feedback. Such a role model!
