The HPT model developed by William Deterline (1998) focuses on the individual human element of performance, which Deterline calls the performer. The performer may be influenced by multiple personal and organizational factors. These factors are often unconnected forces that are rarely working together to improve individual performance. The challenge for the performance analyst in this environment is to effectively identify and communicate these unconnected influences to the decision makers within the organization.
