Now
Located at the corner of West Main Street and North Avenue, 3 West Main Street is a vibrant part of Webster Village. Today, it houses a bakery, an antique shop, and apartments, continuing its legacy as a community hub.
1930's - 1950's
The Western Auto Associates Store was a retail establishment located at 3 West Main Street in Webster, NY. As an "Associate Store," it was a independently-owned franchise (Irving T. Farnham) that purchased supplies and branding from the Western Auto Supply Company. These stores were known for a wide variety of goods beyond auto parts, including Western Flyer bicycles, appliances, electronics, toys, and hardware.
F.M. Jones Era
In the late 1800s, Frank M. Jones, a prominent businessman and local politician, purchased the building and transformed it into the F.M. Jones Hardware Store. By 1901, the building was already a center of activity, hosting the Bell Telephone Company exchange in what was known as the “Frank M. Jones block.”
Klem Brothers Store
Before Jones’s ownership, the building was home to the Klem Brothers Store, as seen in an 1883 photograph. The store occupied the prominent corner of West Main and North Avenue, serving as a key retail location in the growing village.
