This page includes resources for those with emergency financial need that could help contribute towards housing-related costs.
If your financial aid estimates do not accurately reflect your costs or current situation, you can submit appeals. This may cause the financial aid office to reevaluate the amount of financial assistance you are eligible to receive.
If you filed the FAFSA as a dependent, but are now an independent (per the FAFSA definition), you can submit an Appeal for Independent Status. If you are an independent, your parents' income will not be considered in your financial aid awards allocation.
If you are a dependent, but you family contributions/income changed drastically in the past year (after you filed the FAFSA or California Dream Act application), you can submit the Family Contributions Appeal. This may cause the financial aid office to reevaluate your eligibility for additional financial aid.
If your expenses exceed the estimates on your My Awards profile, you can submit a Cost of Attendance Appeal. If you provide enough documentation that your necessary expenses (housing, medical costs, etc.) are more than your estimate, you may be eligible for additional loan funding.
If you are married or have dependent children under 18 years old, you can fill out an Alternative Budget Request. This may qualify you for additional loan funding to cover household costs.
