Emergency and temporary shelter programs are typically for people experiencing homelessness who do not have a safe place to sleep and need shelter as soon as possible. Spaces at these shelters are limited and often first-come, first-serve.
Aggie Compass Basic Needs Center: Emergency/Short Term Housing Program
The Aggie Compass office is open Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
Located in the East Wing of the Memorial Union on the UC Davis campus
This program gives students experiencing homelessness or related emergencies hotel vouchers for up to 2 weeks. These vouchers allow students to stay in a hotel for free while they look for more stable shelter.
Submit a Basic Needs Assistance Form to apply. Be as detailed about your situation as possible, so the case managers at the basic needs center can understand how to best help you.

Davis Community Meals and Housing Day Center
Open Monday-Friday, 11am-4pm
Located at 1111 H Street, Davis, CA 95616
*Does not provide overnight shelter, only shelter during open hours
Provides food, showers, laundry facilities, basic hygiene products, telephone access, and mail services
Also offers case management support and referrals to other housing, mental health, or substance abuse programs in the area if needed

Dinner begins at 5pm, and check-in for the emergency shelter begins at 6pm

Case managers help clients create a plan and connect with resources

Specifically serves Asian and Pacific Islander women and children who are escaping domestic violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking, but all ethnicities are welcome
