UC Davis has a variety of housing options:
Residence Halls (also known as the dorms)
University Apartments
Public-Private Partnership (P3) Housing
On-campus housing in the residence halls is guaranteed for all freshmen at UC Davis for 1 year. For second-year students, it is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The first 1000 transfer students to sign housing contracts receive campus housing for 2 years. This usually is for university apartments, not the residence halls.
Continuing students (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th years, etc.) can apply to live in the residence halls, but it is often very competitive. Students are more likely to get housing at university apartments or P3 housing.
Some university apartments are only for graduate students or students with families.
Housing in the residence halls is guaranteed for all freshmen at UC Davis for 1 year. For second-year students, it is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The rooms in the residence halls are fully furnished. Halls in the Tercero and Segundo areas have communal bathrooms and no private kitchens or living rooms. In the Cuarto area, there are suites with private bathrooms and kitchens. All halls have communal laundry rooms.
Those living in the residence halls also must have a meal plan, since most halls either do not have a kitchen, or only have one for the entire building. Students can either get a 5-day meal plan (and then buy food to eat on the two days without the meal plan), or get a 7-day meal plan to eat at the dining commons. These plans also include $200 of Aggie Cash, which can be used to buy food at on-campus locations besides the dining commons.

Rental rates to stay in the residence halls vary depending on how many people you are sharing a room with. The following are the estimated rates for the 2022-2023 school year:
$3,351/quarter for a triple (3 people in a room)
$3,870/quarter for a double (2 people in a room)
$4,456/quarter for a single (1 person in a room)
These prices include utilities but to do NOT include meal plans, which range from about $1,500-$2,000 or more per quarter.
*If you are a first-year student, you are not required to live in the dorms. You will just need to indicate that you plan to live off-campus on your FAFSA, since this will affect the amount of financial aid you receive.

The first 1000 transfer students to sign housing contracts receive campus housing for 2 years. Most transfer students or continuing students who apply for on-campus housing live at the Green. These apartments are furnished and pricing includes utilities.
Rental rates to stay at the Green vary based on type of unit and number of people per room. The following are the estimated rates for the 2022-2023 school year:
$3,056/quarter for a double (2 people per room in shared apartment)
$4,624/quarter for a single (1 person in a room in shared apartment)
$6,744/quarter for a studio (1 person in a private apartment)
Students at the Green are not required to purchase a meal plan, since the apartments have full kitchens. However, there are meal plan prices available, including 7-day meal plans, 5-day meal plans, and 9 meals per week. These plans also come with $200 Aggie Cash.

Solano Park is an apartment complex with units available to married students or students with children. Unit sizes include 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom apartments. Basic internet, water, and garbage utilities are included in the rent. Gas, PG&E, and telephone service is NOT included in the rent, and must be paid separately.
Rental rates vary depending on unit size. The following are estimates from the UC Davis Student Housing and Dining Services website:
1 bedroom: $766/month
2 bedroom: $906/month
These unit rates are much less expensive than other rates in Davis, and are mostly reserved for low-income students families. This complex also accepts Housing Choice Vouchers (formerly known as Section 8 vouchers), which are a form of federal rental assistance. Most students are NOT eligible for this aid, but student families are sometimes eligible.

Primero Grove provides housing for single graduate students and student families. Offers studios, 1, 2, 3, and 4 bedroom apartments. Rooms can be occupied as singles (1 person) or doubles (2 people.) The number of bathrooms varies. Each apartment has a kitchen, and a laundry room is located on the complex premises. All utilities are included in monthly rent except PG&E payments.
A portion of the units at Primero Grove are currently set aside as isolation housing for students with COVID-19.
Call the Primero Grove office at (530) 754-8455 for information about pricing and unit availability.

Most of the P3 housing options are more expensive than average rates in Davis. However, they are technically located either on-campus or very close to campus, and they often have extra amenities than non-university affiliated off-campus apartments.
