A pastor at the Manitowoc Catholic Church, Doug's best friend and former criminal partner, who has since left the criminal underworld. It's unclear what events led to his sudden disappearance from Chicago, nor how noble his motives for becoming a pastor were. 

Aldo was born into an intelligent German-Italian family. The family migrated to South America at a young age, later settling in Chicago. Krieger Sr. feared Nazi persecution even after the war, fearing the theft of his scientific papers. He terrorized his wife and sons, keeping them in constant fear. Aldo is the middle son, and as a sick child, he was often isolated from his peers. After moving to Illinois, he fell in with a bad crowd, but his insight and eccentric ideas soon allowed him to assume a leading role in the gang. He recruited Doug and later did business with him. In 1999, he suddenly disappeared from the city, cutting off all contact with his loved ones except for his nephew, Joe.

Cynical, sharp-tongued, and prudent, he never plays it safe and teaches his nephew the same. Aldo fears judgment, often ignoring his desires to save face in public. Since moving, he has led an ascetic lifestyle, which has caused conflicts with his friends. He tries to keep a low profile, remaining law-abiding but inconspicuous.

The righteous path must be set aside when an old friend of his comes to the city where he fled from his problems and loved ones, forcing the pastor to remember the past.

It is generally dangerous to humans, but in rare moments it can silently listen to any soul-searching torment without revealing itself.

Segreto is often confused with a rewbolt. Interestingly, they are frequent visitors to his lair, and he seems more pleased with such company than with human companions.
